Can-Traffic’s Airdrie team is currently looking for a Construction Foreman with  experience installing, maintaining and repairing projects involving street lights, traffic signals, pedestrian crossovers, signage, flashing beacons and other traffic electrical devices. Work is completed within Calgary and the surrounding municipalities but does requires frequent out of town short term assignments. What you will do Everyday

  • Oversee, supervise, mentor and work along side construction crews that install, maintain and repair projects involving street lights, traffic signals, pedestrian crossovers, signage, flashing beacons and other traffic electrical devices
  • Work with the project team to coordinate, schedule and sequence site work in a manner that is consistent with requirements of each project
  • Proactively look for roadblocks and ways to accelerate progress.
  • Work with the project coordinators and scheduler to define constraints and priorities for each week.
  • Lead daily tailgate meetings to address scopes of work for the day and Job Safety Analysis to address the planned work.
  • Travel to job sites to ensure project timelines are maintained according to client expectations.
  • Maintain daily construction records
  • Ensure accurate and detailed billing is completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Assisting in the investigation of any incidents or complaints and preparation of reports
  • Provide ongoing coaching and training to team members on various aspects in the field
  • Jointly responsible with assisting in the yearly Employee Performance Reviews as well as disciplinary reviews and action.

 

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to be adaptable, manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, quality control and engineering drawings
  • Ability to identify potential risks, determine root cause, develop actionable solutions to meet project milestones and budget requirements.
  • Experience in developing and mentoring teams.
  • Analysis, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work in inclement weather conditions
  • Ability to workdays/nights/weekends or out of town if necessary

 

Qualifications Needed

  • Combination of work experience and/or technical training in an industry-related trade certification/education program
  • Minimum 5 years related experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 (non GDL) driver’s license and submission of a 5-year Driver’s Abstract with less than 7 demerits
  • Journeyman Electrician/Lineman is an asset
  • Project Management Certificate is an asset
  • Class 3Q is an asset
